Pilot Shorthand
Pilot shorthand is recommended by the FAA. It is used to help a pilot copy a clearance as fast as air traffic control (ATC) reads it. This is the official list produced by the FAA although the FAA says a pilot may use any means necessary to copy a clearance and repeat it back to ATC as long as the pilot is able to do so accurately. This list can be found in Appendix A of the Instrument Flying Handbook (FAA-H-8083-15B)
